The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has refuted messages being circulated in some quarters that Skye Bank has been liquidated by the CBN. Mr. Isaac Okorafor, the Ag. Director, Corporate Communications in a statement yesterday said the message urging customers of Skye Bank to withdraw their deposits or transfer them to other banks based on the vile allegation that Skye Bank has been liquidated by the CBN is false and malicious. “The CBN wishes to state, and emphatically so, that it has not liquidated Skye Bank or any other Deposit Money Bank for that matter” the statement said. “The Bank also wishes to reiterate its earlier assurance that Skye Bank is not in distress and remains a healthy bank in the Nigerian banking system. 4 FGGC students buried after ghastly accident

Four students of the Federal Government Girls College Oyo state were killed after a Lorry carrying garri, fell on a commercial bus conveying them to school. Four students of the Federal Government Girls College Oyo state and a driver died in an accident at about 3.30pm on Sunday, October 30. The accident occurred at a popular market in Sabo area, a distance of about one kilometre to the school, The Nation reports. A trailer loaded with garri was said to have fallen on the minibus conveying the students to school, killing them alongside the driver. The deceased are John Olubukola (SS3), Giwa Taibat (SS3), Ladipo Mojisola (SS1) and Ibirogba Maryam (JS3). Five others were lucky to escape and are reportedly receiving treatment in Peamark Hospital in the town.
